Morgan Stanley ordered to pay over $7.8M (2023)

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s panel orders Morgan Stanley to pay over $7.8 million to Schwab for encouraging two of its brokers to abruptly quit their jobs to join Morgan Stanley to share Schwab’s customers’ information with them. In a twist, the FIRA panel also ordered Morgan Stanley to pay Schwab’s former brokers millions in legal fees and punitive damages for breach of contract.
